Used x pro1 or used x100t

Hi everyone,

I just rented an x100v for a month and I have to say I was really happy with it. I'm not so sure that I'm a 35 mm guy but I loved how fast it was. I'm a Canon shooter and I'd like something smaller than my 6d mark ii.

I don't quite have the budget for a new 100v but I was thinking about the following options:

x100t for 600 EUR

Or

xPro1 with a 23mm f 2.0 to start out and then upgrade later on to the 1.4

What's the main difference between these two cameras? I really like 50 mm I could also get a conversation lens for the x100t or a 35mm for the xPro1.

Part of me says spend some extra cash for the xPro2 but that's out of my budget for now.

Thanks for your help.

The obvious advantage of the X-Pro1 is the ability to change lenses, which given that it sounds like you're not completely sold on the 35mm equivalent focal lenth, might be the most pragmatic choice.

In terms of usability, the X100T is quite a step up, in my opinion. The EVF on the X-Pro1 is dreadful, and moving the focus point is a bit cumbersome, too. I took both cameras to Venice a while back to compare image quality and usability, if you're interested: https://www.jonathanslade.net/post/in-with-the-old

Having had both at the same time, using an xp1 get's old quickly. From the beginning it was never a technological leader. Now its just obsolete. A fun second camera. The T is a fun default camera.

Hi,

I had the X-Pro1 and loved it but that was in 2012. Now it is not something I would recommend. I still shoot with the X-Pro2 which is a fantastic and I would recommend to stretch your budget a little to get one.

Thanks for the advice. I wish I had a little more to spend but it looks like it'll be the x100t. I don't want to sell my DLSR quite yet. If the x100t is at 600 then an xPro2 with a prime lens is about twice that. I'd still like to upgrade my glass for my DLSR.

With that said, if I get any bonuses at work I'd love to get the xPro2.

I had a look at your website. Fantastic. Thanks for your help.

Thanks, at 600 used I'm looking at picking up a T, although I wish I had the budget for an xPro2.

Wonderful website. Thanks for sharing. I'll probably go for an x100t although I'd like to have the budget for an xpro2

All my photos are shot with the XE1 same x trans as X pro1

I'd recommend Xpro1 for everything accept AF speed compared the the x100t

I love the vintage analogue soul in the jpgs from this sensor.

Thanks for your response. Beautiful photos on your Instagram account. I really like simplifying things, like you say, one lens, one camera. Maybe I'll go for an xpro1 in the end. Just realized through your post that you can also adapt vintage lens. Which adapter do you use?

Thanks again

I got mine from K&F concept, 30usd for my Konica lenses

Works great with the 1st generation . Also bought adapter for my Leica & Olympus vintage lenses.
