Why Do My On-Screen Skintones Keep Shifting Back And Forth?

Is there a reason that Photoshop might be randomly changing the on-screen vividness of my photos while I'm working on them?
I'm not sure what I'm doing to trigger it but at some preview sizes, an image will appear way too saturated then after a few minutes return to a more accurate appearance.

I'm noticing it mainly in portraits and it's starting to freak me out because I can't tell if I'm over-saturating my skin tones.

Am I the only person having this problem?

Using Photoshop 22.3.0 on an iMac with Catalina 10.5.7

Thanks. How about Automatically adjust brightness? (seems to affect color less)

Nothing, really.

Unlike True Tone, it seems to have no effect. I can turn the room light on an off, but the screen brightness looks the same.

With True Tone disabled, color temperature seems higher (less yellow) in my laptop room.

Does Tru Tone exist on the iMac?

Tru Tone is garbage, by the way. Can’t believe Apple introduced that crap.

I cannot find it on my iMac, but it's a 2014.
