g85 horrible stuttering on low shutter speeds

anything below 13 on my g85 just gives this colossal appearance of a computer that can’t keep up with a new game as i move the camera around and it’s just this slow stuttering blur.

A little more information would be helpful?

Video or stills?  What are your settings? What lens(es) are you using?  What memory cards?  Was it always like this or is it a new thing?

Can't help you without knowing more...

I am not a video person, but we still need to know the rest of the settings, please.  What lens are you using; do you have OIS on it and is it on or off; is the IBIS on or off; does it do this on all lenses; did it do this before or is this new, etc?

Let me guess -you're in manual mode with constant preview on yes?

yeah coming from the m50 mark ii where it’s constantly changing with your settings i just figured i’d prefer it on to know what’s going on, i’m mainly using this for video though regardless

Bump the ISO or open up the aperture -or both, & it should go away. Not 100% sure on video though, as I never shoot it.

Are you talking about 1/13 of a second in video?

The shutter speed needs to be at least equal to the the frame rate or higher. So 25fps needs a minimum shutter speed of 1/25. If you need more light open the aperture or increase ISO.

Interesting sample.

Can you tell us what were the setting used? Is it the footage recorded by G85 or a record on the Live View on the evf/LCD of G85?

Got it.

I suppose you might have set Constant Preview in Menu to ON (Custom Menu, item #! on P.6/10)?

Under M, Preview becomes the Live View similar real time display mode if CP=ON. This will give a more accurate (closer to the shot to be taken) real time simulated image than Live View (LV has more restriction) but on the down side, will also show the shutter speed effect.

If a slow shutter speed be used, says around 1/2", the refresh rate of Preview will be reduced to reflect the possible stability under that shutter speed. The slower the shutter speed the more sluggish the refresh would be. Might try to shoot with 1", basically any tiny handholding instability will make operation nearly impossible under that sort of ultra slow motion display.

It is actually a common behavior for all Panasonic cameras.

When CP=OFF, G85 will enter an auto LCD grain mode and it will not reflect the shutter speed effect in evf/LCD (also at a cost of no simulation of the exposure effect under the parameters in used). We have to use the ad hoc Preview to monitor the exposure setting.

Therefore I use C mode for this. I had customized a C mode to use M and having CP=OFF. This is specially used for low lighting M mode shooting.

For video, G85 will not allow you to shoot video using slower shutter speed than 1/25". Therefore the sort of simulated image in evf/LCD refresh rate won't kick into those poor effect.
