Z6 IBIS engage/disengage clicking noise sound?

Hi

I just received a refurbished Z6, quite exciting at first. But this noise is quite annoying to a level that I am wondering if mine is defective.

When turning on/off the camera and going in/out of reviewing photos, there is a clunk or clicking sound. If I turn off the IBIS then it is quiet. The loudness is just slightly lower than the mechanical shutter sound.

Is this normal?

I could not find much information on line. I don’t remember hearing this noise when trying a Z6 in storeI a few weeks ago.

I think what you’re hearing is normal. It’s the sound of the sensor assembly being locked in place when not in use.

To me, the sound resembles a tiny garage door opening then a brief metallic click.

Thanks a lot for your reply and information.

I also went to a Bestbuy store yesterday to try another Z6. Sure enough the IBIS noise is noticeable this time, about as loud as mine.

There was a Z6ii there so I also checked it out.   It is slightly quieter than Z6. Not sure if Nikon refined it a bit, or sample to sample variations.

I noticed the same with my new Z5, while the Z50 is totally quiet. IBIS - that makes sense.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that the Z 6 II body is slightly deeper.
