Newbie,

Looks like a lovely trio around the bay.  I miss that west coast look - funny how I've always lived on or near a coast most of my life, except the first few years after I was born living in southern central England.  From there, it's been New Jersey, California, Louisiana, and Florida - all pretty close to ocean (or right on it).

Lots of pelicans, and by the colors of the rocks, they are there often!

Love the tree lined path in the reserve.

I also love that big kelp on the Pacific side - our only seaweed is almost all sargasso.

Thanks for sharing these interesting pictures. I lived in the Sanfranando valley a very long time ago, and remember these type of locations and scenery, it brings back memories.
I must say that the picture with that bull-whip kelp was my favorite, that is the real standout to me. It has so many things going for it! It makes me wonder how and why it was so far away from the water. The composition and colors are also outstanding.

And what a versatile lens it is!

Those caught my attention:

Rookery with Brown Pelicans, Cormorants, a GBH and others that I don't recognize.

... looks somehow like as the pelicans grow out of the rocks ...

Adult Brown Pelican. Non-breeding colors

Great BIF shot!

At the JV Fitzgerald Marine reserve

What a structure! The leaning left ones reach menacingly for the right straight ones. Well seen and taken!

Juvenile black crowned night heron at Maverick beach

A camouflage master, this heron.

Bull-whip kelp on Montara beach

As if it was alive. Great composition.

Thanks for sharing all those!

Phil
