Samsung Galaxy S21. Simply AWESOME
2

I just setup a new S21 for my Mother in Law.  I love this phone.  I am all in and getting an S21 Ultra in blue in the next day or so.  It flat out destroys my iPhone 11 in every way.  From performance, to screen, to camera, to how the os works.  WOW.  Apple is no where near what this phone is.  Glad I got to set it up for her.  It's SOOO fast and nice.

It's great to have an intuitive, modern OS.  iOS has been stagnant for years.  It still looks essentially the same since its start.  Android on the other hand has moved on from it's beginnings and modernized as time went on.   The last android phone I owned was the original note.  I have been using my 1020 and 4 different iphone models since.  However, after yesterday and setting up that S21,  I am ditching iPhone right away.

Can't wait.

Interesting. I'm also considering the S21 Ultra, iphone 13, and Pixel 6.

Much to think about!

Scratch the iPhone off the list.  Nothing new, exciting or otherwise there.  My iphone is garbage.  Screen is terrible, camera is so so, I have major stability and connectivity issues with it.  Apple will do nothing with the phone for me, even though I am in warranty without going to an apple store.  8 hrs drive plus 7 hr ferry ride one way.  NOT going to happen.  Telus will not do anything.  They don't warranty the phone.

Needless to say,  I have everything apple moved out of my home except 2 iphones.

Thanks for your opinion. The iphone is still on my list, although I think I'd really like to stay with android.

I'm very much interested in the S21 Ultra. Seems like it checks all the boxes for me   But I'll wait another month to see what the Pixel 6 Pro has to offer.

I was about to buy the Note 20 Ultra. The included stylus and micro SD are features I really like. But while reading reviews on amazon a few people reported blurry close-up shots. I did a search on the net and there are many complaints about this. Since I use my phone often to photograph documents, I decided to pass on the Note. I'm glad I read the reviews before buying.

I am flip flopping back and forth between the S21 Ultra, pixel 6 pro and the new surface duo 2 coming tomorrow.  all three have my attention.  I am stuck with the junky iPhone for another 9 months.  Apple won't admit there is a problem, telus can't replace it and I feel that I should not have to pay to replace it myself since there are obvious issues with it.  Needless to say,  Apple is done in this household.  I will probably jump on the duo 2 if the cameras are as good as the 950xl back in the day!

I'm not sure the surface duo 2 is for me. With a non-folding phone I can glance at the screen to see if I received any calls, texts, etc. Or check the time, date, weather, and so on. With a folding phone I have to open it up every time to see these things. Well, at least I think so.

Hmmm...I wonder if MS will give us an updated Surface Go 2 tablet? I like mine but a Surface Go 3 with better screen resolution and faster processor would be nice.

We will know tomorrow!

As far as I know a new surface go 3 is coming tomorrow as well.  I love surface devices.  I just wish they made a surface laptop in two in one form factor like my dell.  I agree with the duo having to be opened.  I combat that with a wear OS watch.  The functionality while open is amazing though.

Probably the best thing I’ve ever bought my girlfriend. Being able to go from 15mm to 300mm or so in all with pleasing, bright sharp and punchy images, all on a phone is great. She now no longer uses a camera at all and we sold the RX10 III that she didn’t use

Yes, the cameras in the Galaxy are great, but for myself, a phone can never replace my dedicated cameras.  But overall, the S21 series are the best phones available right now.  Even over the new iPhone 13.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S21. Simply AWESOME

I agree it wouldn't ever replace a larger camera for me either. But other peoples needs are vastly different. Going from the RX10 images that are plain and unedited to saturated, perfectly blended exposures with all the shadows and highlights retained is amazing for the casual user. That would take time and effort to do with a 'real camera'

Well, yes and no. It would take all of 20 seconds. But yes, for the causal user who only looks at their images on their phone screen, or tablet, sure. They are perfectly fine. I call it "Instagram" perfect.  All I know is that the S21 camera system is much much better than my iPhone, and a better phone in just about every way.  Screen is better, it's "snappier", wireless charging is better, OS is better, camera is better, etc.

Re: Samsung Galaxy S21. Simply AWESOME

Well no not the case at all. If you shoot in high dynamic range scenes, bright light, sunrise or sunsets, a single frame from a 1 inch sensor won't give you anywhere near the end result than any modern flagship phone would. I cannot even get all the DR in with my Z7, let alone a lesser sensor.

Hence why for 90% of folk phones are just fantastic.

And being fair, it's all an opinion, isn't it... OS being better would be disagreed with by most and snappier implies you either have an old iPhone or its defective. Apple have by far the best processors of any phone on the market.

As I mentioned before in other places.  There is more than Processor when it comes to how a phone works.  I have an iPhone 11.  and the s21 is far snappier and faster than it.

Apple is all smoke and mirrors.

I have the s21 ultra. Got it in February. I bought it specifically for the camera. I had the samsung s9 previously. As a phone/computer, no issues, its great. As a camera, it sucks. Photos from it are complete rubbish. Not sure what samsung does with processing but they butcher the photos. My old S9 took better photos and my gf's iphone 12 blows it out of the water. Im kinda ticked because I bought it specifically for the camera. If I could get out of it without losing my shirt I would. Unless Samsung does a major change to how they process photos  in this phone, I'd avoid. Photos are oversharpened to the point of looking digitized. They apply way too much contrast and their WB and colors are just off. If you want to shoot raw with it and edit afterwards, go for it. Personally, thats not what I want to do with phone photos.

It certainly has a very nice job with the camera it has. I was thinking about getting one, but now that the Pixel 6 is coming next month, i'll wait to see reviews and comparisons among the 3(Pixel 6, Iphone 13, Galaxy  S21).

I think yours has an issue. Many reviews have blind taste tested the images from the S21 vs iPhone vs. Pixel and the S21 usually was picked. This was even apple centric fan sites as well. They all get mad when they don't pick the iPhone pictures. But many reviews have consistently put the images from the s21 above the iPhone.
