Re: Some pictures from this afternoon

Yes, a very nice set of images.

Compositionally, it can be difficult to judge how much foreground rocks to include  versus the water or sky, particularly when all have nice colors and the light is changing quickly.

I think you made great decisions with all of your compositions. Thanks for posting and all the best, john

Re: Some pictures from this afternoon

Thank You so much John! It was a fantastic afternoon! As You wrote about it, yes, the lighting changed very quickly so I just tried to cope with the situation.

Yes, the balance of Nature can be brutal!
8

To quote VisionLight, "Yes, the balance of Nature can be brutal".  But often it is beautiful.

It was getting late and I didn't have time for a tripod and my technique isn't that great. But enough with the excuses!

Stare down! The remnants of the squirrel were found on my deck the next morning...

One recent evening I walked out of my garage and found the remnants of a vole laying in my driveway. I looked straight up to the peak of my garage roof and this is what I saw peering down at me. I had time to retrieve my camera from inside my house and was able to snap this and other photos of this owl. I over-exposed the sky, but thanks to Photoshop, magic!

This would be a really nice buck, if not for one droopy antler.

This is a decent mule deer buck photographed in my backyard after the rain fell.

This guy has a GREAT rack!

One of two fawns with its mother.

I'm coming out to live in your neighborhood, Dean. What great neighbors you have who visit so often and allow you to capture the many facets, brutal or beautiful, of their lives. Nice work doing so as well.

Ed

Thanks, Ed!  I hope that you didn't mind me quoting you.  I enjoy your elaboration on your photography stories.  And I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding getting our act together!  It is past time!

The wildlife around me gives me solace during these difficult times for my family.

All the best to you and your family,

Dean

Re: Heron, Kingfisher, Eagle

Great photos Paul!  I really love that last one of the eagle.  I'm not sure that I have ever seen that behavior captured like that before.  Regards, Dean

Thank you,

It may be a little over-saturated, but the light and clouds were great, great so I tried to capture the atmosphere as best I could.

Thank you for the kindly compliment Dean.
We're overjoyed to see they're back again this year, looking healthy, mating and starting to nest.
Happy trails.
