200D vs 5DMarkII noise
1

So I need to be taking some pet shots at high-ish ISOs. I have by trusty 5DII but also can borrow the much later 200D. 5DII obviously is full frame and has larger pixels, but what about noise performance? 200D also has higher max ISO.

From the noise perspective only, should the 200D actually be better than the 5DII at the same ISO?

(also posted in 5D area, but I guess there are experts here not in there too)

Your Canon 5D Mark II should perform much better.  But we should verify that with reviews found on the internet.  I would be very surprised if it was different than what I thought.

Could you take pictures with both cameras and let us know?

The right question should be whether the 5D2 is better or not at equivalent ISO, which is about 2.5x that of the 200D. Like ISO 1000 for the 200D vs ISO 2500 for the 5D2.  Theoretically, the 5D2 should have ~ 1.3 stop advantage but it has about 1 stop here.

Then you need to have the right lenses...
