EP7/20mm F!.7 - Some Monochrome Profile 2 med grain shots today
12

After a dentist appointment (ugh), had a chance to walk around some buildings and use the 20mm F1.7 along with the EP7 in monochrome profile 2.

PenF works the same here.

This  one is monochrome profile 3 (infra red sim)

For this one I prefocused the 20mm and as the guy was passing me by, tracked manually with camera-lens.

Nice pictures! I got this camera new today for 450€ (after selling the kit-lens).

How’s the 20mm f1.7 focusing in low light on the E-P7? The size of the lens is appealing, but I’m not sure if the small size is noticeable compared to 17mm 1.8?

I have the OM20mm f1.4 and it sits nice on the camera, but it’s not a pancake

It focuses well but you have to half press first, wait for it to focus and then finish the press. It's also a slow focusing lens. But works well otherwise.  This half press requirement affects several Olympus cameras with it, not just the EP7.

I have the OM20mm f1.4 and it sits nice on the camera, but it’s not a pancake

As far as "small and portable" that Panasonic pancake in combination with this camera is a nice jewel.  Looks nice, is small.

I remember having once the GM1/5 with the 20/1.7. Lens had fantastic IQ but had a hard time focusing children fast. On the other hand the 17/1.8 although bigger is very fast.

The P20 has the rendering and size, the O17 has the speed.  Depending on the subject matter you might also look are the P12-32 or P14.  Again neither will render like the P20, but they are small and light.

I find the 20mm Panny Leica crosses that line of small into making the EP7 near ultra compact.  Very easy to put in a pocket or at least even small jacket pocket. Not quite a Ricoh GRIIIx but closest in m43rds other than GM5/GM1's which unfortunately are gone as a line.

Nice b&w images. Your other post about the jpeg settings got me to play around with them. Some of the Olympus profiles produce some really nice jpegs.

Cool. I think the Olympus profiles are more flexible using the tweaks I pointed out - more than it seems at first.

The p20 is by a decent margin my fav. I rarely use the 17 though i appreciate AF speed and overall build quality. The 12_32 deserves lots of consideration. It does, however become frustrating in operation, sometimes, because it needs be activated and, frankly it's reliability (deriving from design and build quality, perhaps?) worries me.

I have both versions of the p20 and they are indistinguishable from an IQ perspective. For me this is one of best multi-purpose lenses any system can boast.

Nice photo! Mono profile is excellent!
E-P7 is really small and light, great for walking around.

I like the 17mm F1.8 more because of the distance scale.

You can use om workspace to get the exact same look if you edit the raw , select monochrome profile and adjust what’s needed to match

can check later tonight what settings

Nicely done.  Reminds me of the Film days.  There's a lot of skill and knowledge and a good eye for contrast that goes into the B&W film look you have.   I've done some decent film B&W back in the day.  However, replicating that look on digitial with editing is much more challenging then people know.  Great work.

You need to set the Grau  to taste  I h e it set to low   Then the color wheel to neutral I think

if you don’t choose the profile on om workspace it may not yield quite the same conversion
