No Nikon Z lenses in Camera Raw profile corrections. Why?

I started editing my first images shot with my brand new Nikon Z7 II camera plus Nikkor Z 24-70mm f/4 lens mounted on. By editing with Adobe's camera raw I discovered there's not any Nikon Z lens listed in the lens profile list when it comes to use profile corrections. Why's that and how can you solve the problem?

I assume the correction is embedded in the raw file, applied automatically.

The Z 2470 f/2.8 S  lens corrections are applied automatically in ACR, you do not have a choice.

For my trinity lenses I have to apply the corrections manually.

This is a shift in Nikon's way of applying corrections in Z cameras vs. their DSLRs. Adobe has bought into the plan. Your solution is to switch to other editing software that does not apply Nikon's corrections. DxO PhotoLab is one of those. In fact, they have their own corrections for each lens made. They lag behind lens introductions to create their own profiles. They do a very nice job. I use their editor, but still use Adobe LR as my primary editor.

A question, please.  Does anyone know how Capture One-Nikon handles Z lens corrections for NEFs?  Does C1 utilize Nikon's embedded corrections like Adobe?

Thank you in advance.

I'm sorry. I don't have C1 and can't help you there.

Capture one uses the manufacturers embedded information.  You can go to their website and check this.

Thank you.  I hadn't checked their website, just the lens profile drop-down window and didn't see many Z lenses listed.

Great to know.

Thanks again!

Yes it does. It is not fully automatic. It knows how to read the "manufacturer profile". It applies the distortion correction automatically. The vignette, or "light falloff" as they call it, is not applied automatically. You have to take it up from zero to whatever is suitable.

Most Z lenses show up as "manufacturer profile", and the above works. The 24-70 F4 S is a little different. It has a profile made by Capture One. I find that its vignette correction is not enough near 24mm and near 70mm with F4. So I switch to the manufacturer profile for that lens (which is also available because the NEF has that data in it), and then compensate for the "light falloff". There may be a few other lenses like this which I am not aware of. Also there is a little bug in Capture One when you switch from the Capture One native profile to the manufacturer profile: The default distortion correction is 100% when you switch. But when you exit and restart, it goes to zero and the distortion is uncorrected. My workaround for this is to set the distortion correction to 101 (or any other value apart from the default 100). Then it remembers that value after restart.

Capture One's system works well as Abhay says above.

For those interested, you can turn off the "manufacturers profile" in Capture One. It applies distortion correction and CA correction from the manufacturers profile but not vignette which you adjust yourself.
