I made this during lock-down last year, suggestions for future projects welcome!

very nice. Seems you have a bit too much light entering from around the edges of the lens, you need to create a tube to encase the lens. Lets try to create a mount for a Goodman 3D printed camera body and I'd use it.

Wow cool camera! Any plans to add custom sensor to make them digital?

Re: 3D printed lens

Nope going strictly 120 film with this one. The medium format camera is one I've never had a chance to get. Now I do. My days of rushing around with the digital are over, the medium format will slow me down and thats how I want it. I asked to see if you can design a lens for this camera that's way it would be nearly completely original. I'm not the designer of the Goodman, so you may have to contact her to find out any details about lining things up for an alternate lens.

So do you think you're up to the challenge of designing a lens for that medium format camera? I need something with a wider aperture say around 2.0 or wider. I'd like the lens to have a range of 85mm or there abouts. Also, I would need a threaded bead around the outer edge of the lens as to accept a Cokin filter mount.

Interesting. Minor point: the OP here didn't make a "3D printed lens" but just an adapter with 3D-printed iris, which is good because literally 3D-printing lens elements is a losing battle. Incidentally, most of the 3D-printed iris don't work very well because the blades are too thick and rough; I've had better luck making iris blades using a programmable paper cutter or laser with thin sheet materials.

There are lots of 3D printed lens adapters, etc., on Thingiverse. I and many others post full designs for free at places like Thingiverse (here's my Thingiverse designs homepage ), and that's also what I encourage others to do.

That said, I don't have a problem with things like the doragoodman site trying to make a business out of selling kits or assembled units. That's a very common model in the open source world. I know from experience just how hard it can be to make a design that works for oneself into a design others can build, and selling kits and assembled product is a good way to pay the development bill. Incidentally, I've never stumbled upon the doragoodman site before, but they seem to have quite a bit of nicely done stuff....

Re: 3D printed lens

This morning I returned to the Goodman site only to be shown a message from google saying I've violated their terms of service and I can't view that site anymore.. it's unclear if this is a google thing or the Goodman site has been hacked or the sites doesn't want others to hang around looking at her products.

Thus I'll be discontinuing my quest of acquiring the Goodman camera for now. I've elected to purchase the Holga 120N Plastic Camera w/ ( 2 ) rolls of Kodak Tri-X 400TX Professional ISO 400, 120 & ( 1 ) roll of a cheaper 120 film for testing. I'll be testing this product while on our vacation this year.
