Wrong exif data for lens when using TC and adapter?

Hello experts,

I finally got the Canon EF 100-400  IS II USM lens for my M6ii. I also got the Canon 1.4x III teleconverter.

However I do not have the Canon ef to ef-m adapter, but am using the one from Vello.

Overall this setup is performing well, however with the TC, the lens is not recognized correctly. It shows as "Tamron 100-400mm f/4.5-6.3 Di VC USD A035E + 1.4x" as in this example photo.

When I remove the TC and only have the lens and the Vello adapter on the M6ii, the lens is recognized correctly as "Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM", as in this example.

Do you have an explanation? Could this somehow be related to the fact that I am not using a Canon adapter? Should I replace the Vello?

Also, I sometimes notice that with the full setup the camera switches to MF. I have to turn the camera off and on again to bring it back.

Any advice or insight would be appreciated!

I have a Canon adapter and a Fotodiox Pro adapter. I've only ever used the Canon adapter with my big lenses. No problems with EXIF (or AF).

Canon EOS M6 Mark II with Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM + Canon EF Tele-Extender 1.4x Mark III (With Canon OEM adapter)...

I'd try a genuine Canon adapter.

Thank you for your response R2D2. Will probably have to get the OEM adapter then...

And beautiful shots!
