X100S Not Turning On

I have an OG X100S with two Fuji-branded NP-95 batteries and Fuji's plug-in battery charging cradle. The X100S has been performing great for about a month; prior to that, it has been in storage for at least several years, maybe as many as five or six years. The batteries and the charging unit were purchased along with the body itself, c. summer of 2013.

Yesterday, I changed the battery unit as the battery in the camera was almost drained. The second battery should have had a full charge (according to the charging unit). But the X100S refuses to turn on, regardless of which battery I use.

Question: do batteries that are essentially unused for a longish period have a "life expectancy"? Are these two batteries just too old or worn out to hold a charge? It's interesting to note that the battery that has been in the camera has worked for c. four or five weeks now, but now neither battery appears to be capable of operating the camera.

(I note that the XT4s appear to currently have an issue that's very similar to what I'm experiencing, except that in the case of X100S, reseating the battery doesn't "fix" the problem; the body still refuses to turn on...)

Well, that was simple - fresh batteries solved the problem. Leaving this for any other newbie who might have this issue...

I bought new batteries off of Amazon. I guess my eight-year-old originals had given up!
