Hi !

Read about the transfer of location data/position from the moble phone, via the PlayMemories app. There just one detail that I quite do not understand.

After mobile and camera is paired and connected, do I have to do anything activily to transfer the gps position every time I'm about to take a photo ? Or does it happens automaticaly as long as camera phone are connected through bluethoot ? Perhpas it read it as I take the picture ?

I'm looking at the a6400.

Kind regards

You will need to check that the "Location Information Linkage" screen in the app shows your camera, and you will need to check that the camera has this parameter (in the a6600 it's between Bluetooth Settings and Bluetooth Remote Ctrl) set on too. Then the Location Information Linkage page of the app will show your camera as "Connected" when it is turned on, and "Searching for the camera" when the camera is off.

Did this ever resume working after Android changed background location services behavior?

I haven't gotten it to work for the past 2-3 Android versions. :(

I had forgotten to mention that (of course) you have to have location turned on in the phone's settings. That said, it does work for me on Android 11, on my Samsung Note 10.

Problem is, Android started restricting background location access 2-3 versions ago - and you can no longer give the IEM app background location access set to "Always".

It used to be possible but not any more. Now the most you can give it is "Allow only while using the app".

It's been a problem since Android 8.0 - FU Google. https://developer.android.com/about/versions/oreo/background-location-limits
