Garfield Park Conservatory, Chicago
4

I have been a DPR member for many years but I don't think I have posted in this forum before. I got a Z50 in December and taken a few thousand shots trying to get comfortable with it but haven't posted anything from it mainly because the Z forum seems very much a gear forum, as it should be, and I don't see many photos posted there, unlike the friendly confines of my usual Nikon N1 forum. Anyway, I spent a few hours at the above named place and thought I would share a few shots, all with the 50-250 which has a nice range for that kind of place.

Lovely set. Clarity, colours, compositions; all very pleasing.

Thanks, I don't know if its the vibrancy of the flowers but they almost look like I pasted them on or artificially blurred the background, but I didn't. Is this the mythical 3-D pop that some people talk about?

Nice set! I had to take a double look at the shutter speed in the last shot at 1/1600 sec.

Thank you, and I will check the original as I don’t think that shutter speed is correct, or even possible given the conditions.

Can’t actually pinpoint what I like about it, but I just kept coming back to it, spent more time with it.

Nice series.  Brings back fond memories of my visits there, especially in winter, when I lived in Chicago years ago...

Hey, thanks! Yes, being there in July reminded me that winter may be a better time for the interior stuff!

The photos are nicely composed and look very pretty.

I do wonder what species of orchid that first photo is.

Just my SWAG, but I see similar citations to a Philippine Ground Orchid.
