Classic negative recipe for older X100T

Hi,

I'm on the fence for an X100* camera but can't really decide for X100V and X100T

Of course I would prefer to pay less but classic negative is something I would really like to use in camera for JPG

the other differences are pretty obvious, but I'm not sure if it would be possible to use a recipe for the classic negative that is missing from X100T

If you shoot RAW, you can download Seim Effects free presets.

I haven't used an X100t, but I believe it has classic chrome so you should be able to use this one from

https://www.diyphotography.net/how-to-get-the-fuji-classic-negative-look-to-your-x-pro2-x-t2/.

I didn't love the one posted on FujiXweekly. I find it looks nicer with classic chrome than pro neg.

  • Classic Chrome
  • Dynamic Range: DR400
  • Highlight: 0
  • Shadow: 0
  • Color: -1
  • Noise Reduction: -4
  • Sharpening: -4
  • Grain Effect: Strong
  • White Balance: Auto, -2 Red & +4 Blue

I've used it on my X-T2 and find the results quite nice. Give it a try and tweak it a bit! I put the grain on weak.

Mmm I wonder then, because CN has some substantial color shifts which I have not seen in other simulations. So it is not like you can pick one sim as a basis and tweak it easily. But I may be wrong

If it's at all within your means, just get the X100V. I've had both, and while the X100F is great, the V is the model where it all just came together perfectly. AF, tilt screen, Classic Neg, handling, styling, touch menus...it's the best camera I've ever had.

You're just going to enjoy it every day and you won't think about the extra bucks. To me it's a no-brainer. Sell a lens, a bike, whatever if you need to make up the difference.

Try RNI
1

If I were you, I'd give a try to RNI film profiles. Just try a free demo first.

Their Fuji Pro 160 NS (profile-based, from RNI All Films 5) is strikingly similar to the Fuji's Classic Neg but has better skintones in the shadows and overall more pleasant and analog rendering.

I'll just repost this comparison from the FredMiranda forum:

Not possible. They all involve altering the white balance which might fix one color, like dark green, but at the expense of another color (e.g. red too pink).

You could get the Capture One or Lightroom profiles which are infinitely better than any Classic Neg recipe. The C1 version is slightly better IMHO.
