Just picked up a Minolta X-570

Got this at a garage sale (I hate these things but, alas, my wife loves them). Cost me $35 including a 50/1.7 lens. Everything works at it has a few things other film cameras don't have. Can anyone guess what that might be? Anyway a nice rig.

Congrats on finding the camera at a very good price. The 50/1.7 will get you some great shots. I hope you'll post some photos from it, either here or in the Film forum.

I had wanted to get the X-570 as a back up to my X-700 rig I had in the day. I liked the idea of the match needle metering as well. I remember driving down to KEH many years ago and looking at them. However, my lust for Contax and those wonderful T* lenses finally got the best of me and I sold my Minolta gear and went in that direction.

I did recently pick up another X-700 with some lenses. I discovered I really missed it!

The Minolta X-570's ability to balance flash light with ambient light?

Hello kivis!

Are you thinking of this feature as one of the few things the Minolta X-570 (X-500 in Europe) has that other film cameras don't have?

* When using a Minolta 360PX or 280PX or 132PX or 80PX flash unit on the Minolta X-570/X-500 and holding down the exposure lock button while releasing the shutter, the camera will balance the flash light with the ambient light.

Regards

Re: The Minolta X-570's ability to balance flash light with ambient light?

It was called X500 in Australasia too.

Other cameras could balance flash light at lower exposure times, for example the OM 2/3 and 4.

So I am waiting to know what special features that X570 has.
