Google Pixel 3A XL Camera question

I am making the transition from my Microsoft Lumia 950XL Windows phone to a Pixel 3A XL (reluctantly as I loved my Widows phone)

QUESTION great feature on the Lumia was that even when the phone was locked, I could press the dedicated shutter release button to launch the camera app, the phone remained locked but I could use the camera, great for quick shots. With this new phone I have to unlock the phone with my PIN and then launch the camera app which is nowhere near as good, can I make one of the volume buttons behave like the Lumia ? and Yes I know the volume key can be a shutter button, but I still have to unlock the phone first

Thanks V

On Pixel 3 (non-A), double clicking the power button from sleeping locked state will bring up the camera, after which the volume button can be used as release. The only limitation I find is that it then stays awake for a relatively short time, so one will have to not hesitate too much.

EXCELLENT !! Thanks I have finally given up on my Windows phone as apps are now becoming inactiveand I have just realised why it wasn't relevant enough to survive (even though I loved it). I bought a Pixel 3 XL and installed a Windows loader and have effectively turned it into a Windows phone that I am familiar with, but everything works. Android was just too flexible and customisable for Windows to stay competitive, not sure how Apple have managed it though ?, this is how it looks, its just almost identical to a Windows now
