XF27mm f2.8 MINI-REVIEW
3

In the past, I did find the 27mm a focal length, I didn't really resonate with. Being able to shoot from just a little bit further, especially during Covid times, makes it however an interesting proposition for docu and street work.

My own mini-review can be found here: https://bjornmoerman.blogspot.com/2021/06/dare-to-be-different-mini-review.html

Sorry, but your „Review“ says nothing to me...

you took pleasing shots, congratulations, but I am sure you could take shots with high photographic quality with any lens whatsoever...

Just Another „please visit my homepage“ Thread?

I think you missed several points:

1. Mini - review, not a complete review.

2. Comparing between the older and new versions, highlighting the important differences.

3. Of course it is possible these days to take good shots with any lens. But the OP articulated some of the differences between several focal lengths he was more used to, and the 27mm lens.

Nice review... I prefer a ~40mm equiv though. I started photography using a 38mm with tight frame lines...probably was more like 40. 38/40mm lenses used to be more popular... see konica/olympus/leica/minolta...pentax has a 43mm as well.

To me 35mm equiv seems too wide (esp the 23 f2), and 50mm equiv too tight haha.

Deciding between those has been an annoying process for me... I had 23 f2, 1.4, and 35 f2, 1.4...didn't like them that much, prefer my 27! It would be nice if they made a 1.4 27 though... similar to some of the fast 40's that are coming out from voigt/sigma.

Deciding my wide and tele was much easier actually. I really like a 20/21mm lens, and I really like an 85/90mm lens, depending on the system.

Re-regarding his initial posting, he writes only about his 27mm „review,“ in his initial posting, not about a comparison...

at least a misleading posting and title of the thread : „ xf 27 mini review“ ?

neither in the title nor in the posting does he mention anything about a comparison of  different focal lengths,  you agree?

I interpreted mini-review as a short opinion/review, which is accurate. It is not a long and detailed review.

neither in the title nor in the posting does he mention anything about a comparison of different focal lengths, you agree?

Yes, but then the title would be a bit long, you agree? I found the comparison with the old lens interesting and useful, other's mileage may vary of course. I think you were a bit harsh in interpreting the OP has "click bait" for his homepage.

Wow, you must be fun at parties.

Looks like it's exactly what was advertised. A mini-review with nice pictures on top.

Not sure why you replied to me.

Not many parties these days due to Covid.

Re: XF27mm f2.8 MINI-REVIEW

Thanks for posting. Yours was a nice, "usage" review. I have the original 27mm, and though I rarely use it, I like it. Based on what you wrote, I am sure I would like the new model even more, then again, I prefer the aperture ring.

I would ask that you refrain from posting reviews such as these in the future, since I really don't need to be swayed into buying new lenses, and spending money.

Cheers- Phil

40mm FoV is what I think is closest to human eyesight.

I enjoy this focal length and always find a way to reproduce that FoV in any form factor (20mm for the mFT, 27/28mm for the APS-c and 40mm in the full frame segment).

The xf28 reminds me of the Panasonic 20/1.7. almost the same size and just as enjoyable.

Re: XF27mm f2.8 MINI-REVIEW

Interesting review. Thanks for posting a link to it!

I have the 27mm F2.8 WR that came with my X-E4. It was packed into the kit with a front pinch-type lens cap and a rear cap. There was no hood included.

I bought a Fuji PRF-39 screw-on clear protector filter and a small Heliopan hood:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/800620-REG/Heliopan_73019H_39_mm_Metal_Lens.html?sts=pi&pim=Y

This works well.

I see that the Fuji LH-XF27 hood is available but not in stock.  I think it might vignette if I put it on top of the PRF-39.
