Impropmtu upgrade... aka curse you prime day!
2

So I nabbed a new Panasonic G95 yesterday from prime day for a deal of $699.  Should have it Thursday!

Upgrading from a much loved G7, and I'm wondering what big differences I should see.

Primarily bought for a stills camera, looking forward to the resolution bump, the shutter upgrade and the weather proofing.  What else should I look for here?

Thanks in advance

The video modes are great. The My Menu function for storing of regular features is another one. But honestly, there are loads. Lens wise you'll find it  has a good balance with the PL12-60mm f2.8/4.0 and the P35-100mm f2.8.

There'll be an improvement in image quality due to the 20mp sensor and improved processing engine.
The biggest change will be in image acquisition rather than quality. In other words the new features make it easier to get the shots you want when you want it. eg
- The ibis will be awe inspiring. even if u don't strictly need it to take a shot , just seeing the stabilized view in the EVF will be comforting. but apart from that, slow SS shots will no longer be an issue and will open up creative opportunities esp w/o a tripod.
- Live View Composite
- Improved AF
- Extra spin dial on the back making it a total of 3 vs 2 of the G7.
- Improved menu system:
-- My Menu custom menu slots : Quick access to common menu items
-- Min'm shutter speed setting - Great for specifying the slowest SS before increasing ISO
-- Exposure Compensation in manual /w auto iso : Great for getting auto exposure in tricky situations while controlling both SS and Aperture
-- Separate focus point locations for portrait vs landscape : Saves moving the AF point when switching orientation

I saw that...

...and posted about it. If I was in a better position, I would've purchased it myself, then s o ld the 12-60.

Technical advances apart (20MP, etc), assuming the G95 is at least as good build-wise as the G80, the camera will feel much higher quality build in your hand.  A significant step up in quality feel.

That's a good price and more like it should be when compared to the G9.
