Cosyspeed: updates on actual shipping + feedback on products

Hello all,

Some of you know me as the author of this resource

BEST BACKPACK / RUCKSACK FOR HIKING PHOTOGRAPHERS (2021)

which reviewed among many other products the CP44 (Cosyspeed Photohiker 44 backpack) that was extensively tested in my photo hiking community. They also sent me other products which we are testing and will be reviewed in a separate new thread.

Cosyspeed seems to consistently miss out on product availability and on promised shipping dates (by weeks or... months!) which has been a source of frustration for many. This thread will allow all of you to post any official update you get from them about items you've ordered from Cosyspeed (actual shipping notification, delays, etc.)

Feel free to also share your feedback on their products once you have thoroughly tested them, including anything that might have been changed in the products you had ordered (and of course if you were notified of such changes in advance.)

Chris

Re: Cosyspeed: updates on actual shipping + feedback on products

Update from fellow photographer Ken Gosden (received yesterday)

Chris,

I heard back from Cosyspeed regarding the 404 issue and the status of my order. The two responses are below:

"Due to some technical and formal procedures the PHOTOHIKER was/is offline for some days in our shop, and will be back online in the coming days.
Regarding the shipping in the endless story of supply chain constraints, our CEO had sent an info mail. Seems like it was not delivered to you, so I'll paste it for you below:
---
Dear all,
today we got information from our forwarder that the PHOTOHIKERs, PHOTOCUBEs and CAMSLINGER on backorder will be arriving in Hamburg tomorrow, will go through customs on Monday and will be in our warehouse between 17th and 21st. We are prepared to ship to you immediately!
All the massive delays that we and in particular you had to face, have become somehow bizarre. For example on the railway transport from the factory in China to our warehouse a random customs inspection took place when the train left China. Our forwarder told us that such is as likely as winning the lottery. It took almost three weeks to get the container back on the track.
But now things are on the move and I am so grateful for your patience and kindness all the lime. I don't know if I would have been able to be as patient and kind as almost everyone of you was. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun with your PHOTOHIKER, PHOTOCUBE or CAMSLINGER.
Many thanks and all the best"

Interesting, they're now introducing a 24L version, as well as a new color: blue.  But you'll have to wait another year.

Well you can't purchase either Photohiker size at Cosyspeed so everybody who hasn't already ordered one will have to wait till next year :-(.

Have the prices increased also vs what you paid?

I'm trying out the Decathlon 30L that Chriss recommended first, should be arriving this week and then need to find a suitable ICU for that, I'll see how I get on with this cheaper route first.

Yes, prices have gone up quite a bit.  I paid a little less than $300 for pack + XL cube.  At least, the listing said it comes with an XL cube.  I'll be mad if I only get the pack.

Yeah $300 is very reasonable but > $400 is getting a bit steep, especially when you can get the Vaude Brenta 44 + 6 (which seems to be fundamentally the same bag minus a few bells and whistles) for ~ $150 so even with an ICU added you're talking < $250 all in.

I got a shipping notice from UPS Germany yesterday, but the Cosyspeed account page still says, "not executed." As I am not expecting any other ~4Kg packages from Germany I assume it is the Photohiker 44.

I do like the blue, but not the January 2022 date. Or the ~$125 price increase.

Hmm, it is not clear that the Brenta offers the same zippered access to the bottom where the ICU would be placed.

Hi Ken,

The video in the Vaude website makes this a bit clearer, it's a full U zip like on the Photohiker and the photo's of the two products look like the zipper yields the same size of opening.

The Photohiker looks to have better tripod straps and also advertises a rubberised bottom where Vaude make no mention of this rubberised bottom, not sure if it is present and not mentioned or if this is another difference? Chris will I'm sure know about any other differences.

Kev,

In some regions you can get the Brenta 50 for far less than that. And BTW, a colleague of mine who works in the industry told me its out-of-factory cost, I won't post the number since that was confidential info, but you probably won't be surprised to hear that it's way less than the... way less above.

Hmm, it is not clear that the Brenta offers the same zippered access to the bottom where the ICU would be placed.

nah, no rubber there. It's just a different coating, something many many pack makers do.

where Vaude make no mention of this rubberised bottom, not sure if it is present and not mentioned or if this is another difference? Chris will I'm sure know about any other differences.

The CS44 is based on the Brenta 50. Think of it as a car with the same chassis but a different body. Have another gander at Article 3 here, I'm pretty sure all the gory details about the differences are in there.

Pre order now also available!

In addition to the kickstarter project where the Photohiker 44 costs > $400, you can now also pre-order “MK1” of it directly on the Cosyspeed website fot $290 stating deliveries starting June 2021.

https://www.cosyspeed.com/en/collections/test/products/photohiker-44-photo-trekking-backpack

If I hadn’t  already bought a different backpack and icu I would have probably purchased this for that price.

Re: Pre order now also available!

Really like the look/features of this bag. Just watched that DPReview video, the side pockets are HUGE which would be great for extra water bottles! Wish it was available w/o the cube insert but will definitely keep this on the radar when it's available.

Does anyone know if the 44L capacity is with the bag "extended" or is that the base capacity? Looks like the top part can extend upward (under the "brain"), does that add some space to the 44L?

Chris, I hate to question the masters words, but are you sure the 44L is extended capacity? I say that cause the Vaude is 44 + 6?
