Is the Godox V1P flash not compatible with the K3?

I was looking at a discounted Godox V1P flash, but in the specifications/manual the Pentax K3 is not mentioned, only the K3 II and KP, K1, K70 etc..

Is this wrong?

Is the K3 different in flash protocol then the K3 II? Did Pentax change flash TTL and wireless function. The K50 which is from the same year is mentioned though. Strange.

Can anybody give some insight? Thanks.

Looking at a swedish dealer of Godox flashes and particularly the V1P... there it doesn't  say anything about any specific Pentax camera model.... just Godox V1P for Pentax. I have been using Sigma flashes since 2007 when I bought the K10 and used the same flashes with my K-5 and K-3. With the new K-3 mkIII I haven't yet taken any flash pictures but when I do I wouldn't hesitate at all to use a third party flash since they are made to be compatible for Pentax....

The compatibility list from Godox is a list of physical cameras they've had in house for testing. It doesn't mean it won't work. I have the TT350 p and it works fine on my K-3 even though it's not in the "list".

I am not a Pentax insider. I just have a unique way of gaining insight.

Thanks, Kobie also mentioned that it what Godox means is that the K3 is not tested, means not it's not working.

Thanks for looking into this.

That makes a lot of sense. The manual for the for 540 and 360 FGZ II flash units has a 2013 copyright date on it.  It gives its compatibility as K5, K5-II, k30, K50, K500, K-r and 645D.  The K3 hadn't been launched at that point.  I don't think there was anything new about the flash support in the K5 over the K7.  I don't think the interface between flash and camera hasn't changed for at least 10 years.

That was also my understanding, maybe the Chinese translation into English is at work here. The manual stated: "compatible with Pentax K3II, KP etc..." should have stated that they tested with these camera's.

When the V1P was released, the K3-3 didn't exist yet, so not surprising it's not mentioned in the manual

It works

I have both, and they work perfectly together as far as I can tell.

Some misunderstanding, i was probably not enough to the point.

I was referring to the original K3.
