RF 100-500 and Variable ND filter with lens hood attached.

Been searching around for advise on compatible variable ND filters with the lens hood attached.

The main filter I am interested in is the ‘Freewell 77mm Threaded Hard Stop Variable ND Filter’.  The Polar Pro being far more expensive and reviews say only very slightly better.  The Freewell site says it is not compatible with any lens with an attached hood.

Has anyone successfully attached a variable ND filter and been able to use it with the lens hood attached?

As the lens hood has a windows to adjust variable filters, there must be at least one that works.

All variable ND filters will work on that lens with the original hood on.

Many thanks,  not sure if that can be correct.
Several of the K&F filters have adjustment pins on them and the Freewell is something like 82mm at the widest point, Looking inside the lens hood   there doesn’t appear to be enough clearance for either of the following?

Have you tried any variable ND, and if so, which one definitely works?
