Depends of airline. I did flew JFK-HND on Japan Airlines Priority Economy and back NRT to JFK - regular economy. Japan Airlines is best in the World in Economy Class and I was just fine. On 1st leg to Tokyo, I was hanging out with stewardesses and flight went so fast that for me it looked like it was 7-8 hr. flight.

So no equivalence in cattle class seating, it ranges from 787 torture to A380 comfort and still gets you there at the same time.

best ever economy class flight Vietnam Airlines, on a wait for it, Boeing 787

It really depends on what seating package they bought, the Qantas cheapie airline Jetstar chose the narrow seat, short pitch (jam more in) version of the 787. Horrible.

I like how Boeing 787 looks from outside...I flew JFK-WAW on LOT 787 - wouldn't like to again....

And I did a 9 hour Japan to Melbourne leg on a 787 in cattle class with those narrower than usual seats. It felt like an 18 hour trip, horrible.

The best ride was leg Singapore to Japan in Singapore Airlines A380 when they used the back of upstairs for regular economy, window side row was only 2 seats well spaced from the curved roofline so wife and I were very comfortable - best ever cattle class seating we have ever had. Upstairs at the back though was a bit noisier than another A380 ride in the usual downstairs economy cabin where some of the time it was so quiet and stable I was wondering if we were flying.

On an historical note my first ever passenger flight was on a Boeing 707 in 1965 when long distance flights were still a bit of a novelty and they even issued "crossing the equator" certificates to all on board, still have that somewhere in my treasures. No such thing as non-stop then, the stops were Sydney-Brisbane-Darwin-Jakarta-New Delhi-Tehran-Rome-London.

My first ever flight was on TU-134 - VNO-SVO....Back then, my favorite plane to fly on was TU-154 - I flew 100+ times....a couple times - IL-62 - that was a Luxury flight - VKO to VVO, 9.5 hrs....I came to US in 1991 on IL-86 - well...nothing special 747 kinda version.....

I flew once on KLM MD-11....A380 LH - that was GREAT - can't even compare to 747.....

My favorite Boeing aircraft - 777-300ER - it's so beautiful to photograph when its banking:

Those A380 are the best, but sadly their day has gone, a few sitting in our desert at Alice Springs, probably never be fully used again.

Out of date Google image of the area, now quite crowded....

Back in 1983 I used Qantas to get from Sydney to Singapore then Czechoslovakian Airlines to get onwards to London. Leg Singapore to Prague was what we called a "VC-10ski" and that really was an Ilyushin IL-62. Good trip, they even served great Pilsen beer at breakfast time. The kids could not get Coca Cola, that was reserved for the pilots we were told.

Next sector Prague to London was a high wing turboprop and now my memory fails me utterly on what model that was (looked like the Antonov AN-24 maybe was one). Free for all seating arrangement and as we had young kids we were let on first and took the best seats, much to the annoyance of the puffed up important looking party official types waiting. Nice slow run at fairly low altitude up the Thames from the east getting to Heathrow, great early morning view of all London, amazing.
