Experimenting with a full spectrum camera

I got my Sony RX100 II back from Kolari Vision. I decided to photograph the most interesting aspect of the backyard forest, an old Oak. This is without filtration, edited in photoshop only white balance, exposure, shadows, and contrast-type sliders

I might get to merge visible with Infrared some time soon (using IR and Hot Mirror), during a sunny day without wind to be able to get an optimal stack. I've been wanting to do the "Luminosity" blend mode to stack, but various factors need to align together to make it work. Later, in June, I'll be travelling to the desert Southwest so I should be able to make some fascinating photos there, including using the full spectrum camera. It's probably not ideal for use with a UV-pass filter, which I've also thought about doing; I've wanted to map each spectrum into RGB to see if results are the same or different than a single image, unfiltered.

Re: Experimenting with a full spectrum camera

My main camera is a full spectrum converted model, up until about two months ago I generally used it with a clip in UV/IR cut filter, but now I've managed to crack the filter (by far my most expensive filter too)

I now have a few UV/IR filters that can be mounted in-front of the lens but these are far more intrusive when swapping lenses, so many of my recent shots have been full spectrum.

For interesting visual + IR effects I recommend a Wratten #47 which often gives blue skies with gold foliage SOOC. Red filters are another good choice for surreal colour images.

Why are clip in filters more expensive?

I'm guessing it's because they have to precision made for the specific model of camera. Much more complicated to make & having lower economies of scale...
