Using an XT4

I have a X100V ( previously used X100S & X100F).  Will get XT4 for 2 days and want to make the most of it. I have watched multiple YouTube videos on the XT4.  Any main difference between X100V and XT4  setup i need imperatively know to make the most of XT4 these 2 days?  Thank you in advance for any help provided.

I have both the X100V and XT4 & love them both...obviously you'll have to attach a lens to the XT4 plus it has IBIS & a few more extra buttons to customise (including dpad).

Xt4 has a nice grip & fits nicely in my hands. There's not really much difference other than physical ones...xt4 does have a video & stills switch which I keep mostly on stills & therefore don't see any video settings in the menu.

Hope you like the XT4...what lens will you be using?

I suggest note one distinction, if I am correct as I don't have the X100V, that on the top speed dial set the base switch to either Still or Movie.  Then all menu items and functionality relate to that setting. Pal2Tech on YT has good XT4 videos.

Also, if you want to play with IBIS, in the menu, under the Camera icon tab, set IS Mode to Continuous. Then it is always on. I have not found a detrimental impact on battery endurance.

It's fantastic camera - enjoy it.

Set the camera to Boost mode (applies to the X100V as well) and leave it on - there may be a small reduction in battery endurance, but the performance gains far outweigh that.

Yes, I agree, I do likewise and appreciate the difference.

I like low frame rate, high res for the viewfinder. I find it makes a good difference.

The X-T4 is a great hybrid camera. To make the most of it for both stills and video, set 'movie optimized control' to on. This takes the movie shutter speed, aperture, and iso controls off the dedicated dials and onto the front and rear command dials (I put iso into the Q menu, along with the ability to switch between the various slo-mo speeds). The purpose of all this is to completely isolate the camera settings between stills and video.

With this setup, I can set the exposure as desired for stills, then toggle the stills/movie switch to movie and set all my video settings and exposure. Now you can shoot your scene as stills or as video just buy toggling a single switch.

Very useful info.  Thanks

I am following Pal2Tech. Thanks for the reminder.

Re: Using an XT4

I think that the main difference is going to depend on lenses.

If you use long lenses or zooms you may need to select different tracking settings, it does not make a lot of difference for the 110V, but it will if you plan to do BIF or sports.
