Samsung NX20

Hello, I recently bought used Samsung NX20 body. I am hesitating about buying lenses. There are very few original lenses available and all of them are pricey. On the other hand, many Nikkor glasses around. What would you suggest, should I go for original Samsung lenses or getting an adapter and purchasing other glass. I got Canon M series camera, but think as the sensor is smaller, ef-m lenses will not work with NX camera.

I don't think the NX20 has focus peaking … if not you may struggle a little working with 3rd-party lenses on an adaptor, as they'll all be manual focus. If you do decide to get an adaptor, make sure either the lenses you want to use have an aperture ring or the adaptor has facility for adjusting the aperture. If not, you'll be working wide open, which is exactly where you need focus-peaking most!

Possibly one of the reasons that Samsung lenses are so expensive may be because a lot of the "kit" lenses were supplied with a plastic mount, which breaks easily, thereby making the more "sophisticated" lenses with a metal mount more desirable, as they're the only option if anyone wants auto-focus.

good day, i believe either way you will be fine

1 if u wanna get a NX lens, i recommend hunting for a pancake. the 30mm is superb and 16mm is great too

2 for manual lens, theres entire universe out there, i recommend a nx to m42 mount converter. for lenses, look for some asahi pentax takumas, a 50mm 1.8 still affordable i believe

check out some of my photos, esp those with vintage lenses here:

Another opinion.

I find the 20-50mm kit lens to be quite good, compact, and you should find one at reasonable cost. There were two versions.

My favorite manual lens to adapt to a digital camera is one of the 55mm macro lenses that most film era OEMs put in their lineup. I have the Minolta, Olympus and Nikon. Lots of Nikon ones out there, especially the f/3.5.

The NX20 doesn't have focus peaking but it has a manual focus assist: enlargement at 2 powers I believe plus a green bar that rises as the focus improves. I think you can work with manual lenses OK.

I wasn't impressed with the original 14 MP sensor (I have a NX 10), but the 20MP sensor on your new NX20 is excellent in my opinion.

Enjoy your camera.

One advantage of Nikkor (and many other manual focus) lenses is that you could use them on both your Samsung NX and Canon EOS M cameras, with suitable adapters...
