Easydive housings

Hi there, I would like to know more about easydive housing, problems, lag....

I've got a Sony rx100 iii with ikelite housing and I would like to buy a housing for my a7iii but I may have to change in a few years( A9ii or let's dream A1). the idea of not changing the housing is pretty sweet but I can't seem to find lots of information except from easy dive itself.

Does anyone except Italian photographers use this system?

Re: Easydive housings

Hmmm.   Never seen one, sounds interesting.

I was going to say that the only intechangeable housing I've heard off is for cell phones, using wireless communications between housing buttons and camera, but it seems the concept has been extended to cameras.

I'd be somewhat concerned about the ability to control ALL your settings wirelessly.   My Nikons have a lot of buttons that I don't think (but don't know) have wireless controls.    And I'd be a little worried about the speed/lag of such a system.

Sounds interesting though.  I recently upgraded from a D810 to D850, and the extra $3800 to update the housing as well was certainly a bite.

Wetpixel has several threads on those. As I understand it, the biggest limitation is not even so much the controls as it is the positioning of the viewfinder/monitor - the lens must be precisely aligned with the port, and where those end up in a one-size-fits-all housing gets kind of random.

Re: Easydive housings

housings that matched a range of video cameras have long been around.

The main downside is a bulkier housing.  The upside is some level of future proofing, though if you keep a camera system for 5+ years at a time, this may not actually pan out.
