Will my Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD work with my Canon RP and EF-EOS R adapter?
May 19, 2021
Hi
I just bought a new Canon RP with the RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM kit for a real bargain price of CHF 849 (ca. $935). After using it for a few weeks now I must say that I'm really really happy with this kit and I love everything about it especially the colours and sharpness etc. I've rediscovered so many joys of photography and am being amply impressed by the image quality and functionality. I can't impress how much I love this camera.
Anyway I have this Tamron AF 18-270mm F/3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD lens from 2008 which I used to use with my Canon T2 and despite the inferior glass I'd like to be able to use it from time to time on the RP for long reach. I intend to buy an RF telephoto zoom but can't really splash out now so instead of getting something cheap I'd like to wait to get someting good. I know that Tamron says that this model is not supported with EOS R but what does this actually mean? Will I be able to use it but get no EXIF data for example or do I have to remove the circular vignette myself or what? Will the image look OK if I set the crop aspect ratio to 1.6. I'm afraid I can't find out this info anywhere so was hoping someone here might be able to help.
Thanks
Liam
