1

I have Gx9 & just bought the Panasonic 100-300 II and I would like to use a filter to protect it without spending too much and without losing any "visible" quality.

Reading these reviews i posted below I oriented myself on Marumi Exus Filters, anyone have tryed this with the 100-300 II ?? or you want suggest me another good filter at a similar price? (about 30-40€)

Interesting tests.

From prior testing on the PL 100-400mm (I don't remember who did the tests, but if you look it up, it was posted on this forum some time ago), the B+W filters were one of very few that caused no unwanted effects on that lens.  So, my personal preference is B+W, and I would consider that, too, if I were you.  (It was one of the three that LensRentals recommends, also).

I don't think you could go wrong with any of the top three they recommend, so Marumi would be good, as it is one of them.

I suggest just using the hood. It protects against possible flare, and is a nice bumper(shock absorber) if the lens gets banged. I have protective filters but almost never use them, but I always use a hood. Conditions for protective filter use for myself would include shooting near water when their is lots of spray, or if there are children running about with sticky fingers. Poor focusing issues are sometimes associated with filter use, even with the best glass.

There are two camps, the protective filter camp and the protective hood camp, I have been the later for the past 15 years

that said, I do own a Marumi CPL filter that I use a lot when shooting water to remove glare and slow shutter speed.
