More testing needed!

The A7III and theA9 should be pretty much on par noise wise.

The classical way to bring out noise is to under expose and over process. Any class leading camera (the A7III and the A9 are in that league) can be made a dud that way.

Image sensors have fixed sensitivity so raising the ISO is equal to under exposure.

Re: A9 Noise

Thanks.

I think my photos today were probably slightly over exposed.

I suppose the question should be, has anyone else had both the A7iii and A9 and thought the same or drawn any conclusions about the high (which 4000 isn't really) ISI performance of the high resolution versions of the camera?

You are lucky, because somebody did just what you want: https://www.dpreview.com/reviews/image-comparison/fullscreen?attr18=daylight&attr13_0=sony_a9&attr13_1=sony_a7iii&attr13_2=sony_a9ii&attr13_3=sony_a7riv&attr15_0=raw&attr15_1=raw&attr15_2=raw&attr15_3=raw&attr16_0=6400&attr16_1=6400&attr16_2=6400&attr16_3=6400&attr126_3=1&normalization=compare&widget=1&x=0&y=0

Re: A9 Noise

Thanks.

I did actually see that and can't help thinking that at 12,800/25600 the A7 iii looks the best and not much between the A9 and the A7R 1V
