loCa XF 70-300

I am very impressed with my 70-300 on sharpness, weight, zoom flexibility.

One thing one should be aware of is the LoCa in certain conditions with the 1.4 TC against bright light.Difficult to get rid of in post as well.

Using yje ACR filter in PS here it is

I guess other known editor can do similar corrections

Yes this lens is great and the loss of sharpness with the 1.4xTC is minimal at print size

Thanks , but still surprised that the jpeg engine in my xt4 did not remove it.

Re: loCa XF 70-300

The power of processing of the JPEG engine is always much weaker than a good PP editor, it took me say 2 min to remove most of the CA

Besides CA, I see too much saturation and magenta there. Are you using Velvia film sim? Did you leave WB on Auto?

Which is a very logical result of the processing power available in-camera versus a modern laptop or desktop (or even tablet).

Just wanted to add this to what Bob said, for anyone who might be wondering why.

could you kindly elaborate on what this filter is and what it does? I am using C1 and try to find out what would be the comparable tool...

currently I desaturate purple color in the color editor and apply this change with a brush to the affected areas, mostly branches and edges. it works but I am not sure if this is the best and most sophisticated way to handle LoCa in post.

Have to say that bird is pretty sharp, seems a nice lens in that respect, but that's a crazyyyyyyy amount of colour fringing that seems to happen immediately.

Re: loCa XF 70-300

I think it was bad luck + Velvia here not appropriate

I do not observe such amount of CA that I coorect easily in PP without problem
