Boat and windmill in evening light
3

I came across this scene when going for an evening walk around the bastions and walls of the ancient town of Dokkum (where the Frisian killed the Anglo-Saxon missionary St Boniface in 754, but that is all water under the bridge). I am not an expert on boats but this may well be a "skûtsje" or "tjalk", built from the 18th century to transport goods through the often narrow waterways in the north of The Netherlands.

Piwakawaka
2

The Piwakawaka, or fantail (Rhipidura fuliginosa) is one of the friendliest of New Zealand's birds. They follow you around, hoping you will disturb insects they can eat. Relatively easy to snap when they're still, but their flight is rapid and jerky and almost impossible to track. Once again impressed by the eye focus on the R6, and the image quality from the RF 70-200 f4.

Here's looking at you, kid...

It is a majestic bird. Hard to believe it can nicely fly. A treat for the eyes.

Blurred out waterfall, plus a mysterious totemic shrine near a creek
2

Went out shooting with only my RF 70-200 f4.0L at a local park. First picture, 1/20 a second shutter, f32, ISO 100 @ 151mm to blur the waterfall. IS worked great for this.

Second picture, someone left an offering to the Potameides, or perhaps the Potameides themselves were marking their territory. Either way, it was a pretty cool thing to find.

Both of these are SOOC just cropped. To say I'm blown away by the JPEG performance, overall IQ, and AF system of this R6 + RF800 f/11 is an understatement. I never got anywhere close to this with my 5DIV and Sigma 150-600.

Both great captures - this one is our favourite.  Herons are very photogenic subjects...
