Trying to understand which version of a Minolta film era lens

I picked up this lens with an SRT100X.

It seems to be a first generation 50mm F/2 but I only see ones with Rokkor on the lens have either P or X alongside it; this one doesn't.

Any info you can provide is appreciated.

Thanks.

There are a few varieties of the 50mm f/2.0 lens shown on this page:

I have no useful info on it, but this one looks like yours:

"White MD Rokkor lens with 55 mm filter diameter. Some weight savings by plastic parts"

Your camera might be an earlier model , but your lens isn't .

The MD lenses with no extra letters were the last ones made .

Check out the lens history ( and more ) here ; http://www.rokkorfiles.com/Lens%20History.html

Sorry, I should have added that it is a 55mm filter one and goes to F/16.

It certainly does look like that one. I'll read through the link, thanks.

Most probably this table is best to identify the versions. Refer to the explanation on the bottom of the page.

The X suffix was used on Minolta lenses for the US market (or possibly North American – not sure). This lens would have been sold as an MD Rokkor in most countries, but an MD Rokkor-X in America. This was a measure designed to minimise grey imports (products brought into the country other than via the official distributor).

Re: Trying to understand which version of a Minolta film era lens

Thank you everyone for your help in identifying my lens.

Now I just need to clean up the SRT100X and put it to use. I might even pick up another adapter to use the lens on my M4/3.
