Hi,

Ah! As soon as I saw it, I knew what it was. The Original! Nice!

A great lens in limited supply. Nikon ought to make another one of them.

Congratulations on your good fortune.

The bokeh is nothing short of magnificent. Full of creamy, bokelicious goodness, as Kai Wong would probably say.

I was worried about the performance (although the shop offers a 14 moneyback guarantee) since this is an early AI model.
But it performs to specification, still has a super round iris, has zero damage and the chrome ring is clean as a whistle.

Hi,

There's no optical difference between the AI and the AIS versions. That mainly had to do with the stop down rate of the aperture blades. That allowed for Shutter Priority shooting on the FA.

Mine isn't quite all there. It is a recycled unit from an MRI. And has no aperture blades at all. So, only wide open shooting with this one. That doesn't bother me as I wanted it for rendering point light sources as points at night. Which means wide open anyway.

The restriction was well worth it as I paid all of $600 for it.

And the AFS 58 doesn't do the point light sources like the old Noct does. I have yet to see if the new Z Noct does, but I'm betting it does.

The 58 1.4G is a pure joy to use on the Df. It's as if they were made for each other.
That is my lens of choice when I need to get paid.
My 1.4G has wicked sharp focus and nails it pretty much every time on the Df unless I'm being stupid.
I'm more intending the Noct to be for refreshing my old manual focus skills.

Here is a shot from my 1.4G. It really is a stunningly capable lens, despite being maligned alsmost, if not more, than the Df itself.

The Noct is more for taking a relaxing stroll in the afternoon and forgetting about the real world.
