Testing my new lens
7

Like a kid in a candy store I had to do some snapshots with my new to me new lens. I like what I see but I foresee a substantial learning curve.

Marly and her toys

Just a test shot, but I like the colours

I like the separation and 3D effect. Now I have to work on the CA

Looks good. What's the learning curve?  It's a lens not a slide-rule.

It's just my educated opinion. Don't get bent out of shape.

Well, I guess you have never had to get used to the best settings of a new lens? Even if it is only a lens and not a slide rule. You are partially right, my old slide rules from my university engineering studies in the 60's required quite a lengthy learning curve.

Joke aside, shooting wide open at mfd may require a magnifying lens to get a nice sharp portrait (I only know this from reading, not personal experience). Sharp portraits wide open at a distance of 2 - 3 m look good. Landscapes at f4 not focusing at infinity have produced a good overall sharpness, avoiding CA (as shown in one of my first shot). Those are the settings I feel constitute a "learning curve". A more experienced photographer may have none of these issues.
