Exp SIM in live view not accurate [SOLVED]

I use my 750D for astrophotography (removing the lens at attaching it to my telescope at prime focus). I use live view mode to set up the shot.

Only problem is that in Manual mode the image changes brightness as you adjust the shutter speed, but it doesn't match the image brightness in the actual photo. It's out by about three stops. So in order to see the moon in the camera's screen, I have to lengthen the shutter speed by about three stops, then remember to dial it down to the actual shutter speed I want before shooting the photo.

If I understand correctly Exposure Simulation is always on in the 750D (at least there is no menu setting for it).

Anyone know why the Exp SIM is so inaccurate? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

Is it maybe because there is no lens on the camera and so it's confused about what the aperture setting is?

EDIT

Problem solved! Although (for some reason) in Program mode, Manual mode and Shutter priority mode, the actual exposure is way brighter than the live view, in Aperture priority, it matches perfectly
