Chromebook - or other ideas for a tablet replacement.

Chromebook advice please.

This is my wife's desk.

On the left is a Nexus that she uses to check her emails. She loves the fact that it shows her the list instantly. No waking up or booting!

On the right is a 12" Samsung T900 that she uses to reply to them. She uses the Nexus to look at web sites as the Samsung really seems to struggle these days with its Chrome browser. In fact the Samsung gets so slow that doing anything like ordering a week's groceries would be 'fraught'.

We got to the Samsung after I moved her Sony laptop from Windows to Linux as she got frustrated by all the requests for updates. In the end the Sony got too slow even with an SSD.

We must move on and replace the Samsung. Anything over ten inches seems to cost a mint so I am wondering whether a Chromebook would be right.

All my seventy year old wife needs to do is email or work a web site. However, she wants instant access (forget Windows then) and has become used to swiping (so we want touchscreen).

I am not sure she would be happy with the new concept of keys that do not move and click. I suppose we could hook up the bluetooth keyboard to a new Chromebook but that is something extra to go wrong. I don't suppose Chromebooks come with 'proper' keys these days - even though we don't need ours to be portable as it will be plugged in all the time.

I don't mind buying refurbished. All my 'cast offs' are not even refurbished anyway!

I have looked at a UK vendor and seen this selection.

Is there anything there suitable or am I going down the wrong road with Chromebook anyway? I would love a newer version of the T900 but not at around £700 UKP. Especially when I could get a Chromebook for half.

All ideas and suggestions welcome.

EDIT. Anyone tried the Lenovo P11. At 11" it will not be too different to the Samsung and it is seven years on in technology?

A Lenovo Chromebook Duet or an iPad 8 sounds like the best fit.  Either one should fit the bill for the next 5 years or so.
