Re: My Ridiculously Long R6 Review

Just an update on this:

I mentioned in my review that I had problems with Lexar cards with the R6.  Well 7 months have passed since my review and everything has been perfect.  I was out shooting birds last night and suddenly when I switched off, the camera showed error 2.  It showed it was writing images to the card (took forever) before it switched off.  But then when switching on it said the card was unusable.  When I took the card out and put it in my PC it said it was corrupt...

When I connected the camera via USB-C I was able to see and download the images no problem.

Takeways:  henceforth I am just going to shoot to two cards as this error made me a bit nervous.  I will be getting some non-Lexar cards in Europe over Christmas.

I am not bashing Lexar, but in 10 years of Sandisk I have never had one failure (except a card physically falling apart - though it still worked.

If it had been important/once in a lifetime stuff or hours of astro data I would have been up the creek potentially.

Lesson learned.

Permit me to add - my 128gb Lexar cards run into intermittent slowdowns on my R6 - when viewing images, when saving images on H+ and it is annoying. I've decided to use my SanDisk on both card slots. So far, it has not run into the same issues, but it's only been a few days so I need to check further.

Many thanks for your contribution!  So like a real dummy I said I had learned my lesson... then last night I accidentally used the same card.  Shot two hours and 45 mins of long exposure astro (on the Orion nebula).  Fortunately once again I was able to read the card via USB-C despite the camera and the laptop saying it was unreadable.
