Red Bellied Wood Pecker
2

There was a front approaching my home in the morning so rather than traveling I decided to get in a shoot in by visiting my backyard. I opened the garage door and used it as a partial blind in my small urban yard. I filled my feeders and then set up with a view of about 1/2 our pair tree which is in full bloom and our dogwood which is just starting to open. I was out there for over 3 hours starting out in fog and during 2 downpours. I had a very nice shoot with this set of a male red bellied woodpecker the first I will share.

I don't post a lot of images of bids on my feeders as I prefer the nearby trees and there natural perches.

Comments and suggestions welcome,

Morris

Re: Red Bellied Wood Pecker

Thanks for posting these Morris. Nice captures of a beautiful bird. There is a female who hangs around my backyard and visits the feeders daily. One of my favorite photo subjects. Waiting to catch a hairy woodpecker and some flickers. Hope sprimgs eternal.

Be well and stay safe.

Thank you Mike,

The female visits as well.  Also a pair of Downy Woodpeckers.

I do prefer the first photo.  His colors are really bright this time of year.

Do you not like the presence of the feeder of is there something else about the other photos?

Thank you,

Re: Red Bellied Wood Pecker

I think it is more about the angle of view and back ground.  The overall color of the picture is more pleasing.
