Getting reacquainted with a D2x
5

Recently got a D2x as a back-up/second  body for a friends wedding I’m doing later in the year. Took it out for a little test run today- all these shots were taken in a 15 minute spell a short walk from town, i’d forgotten how much fun the D2x was to use.

Had a moment when looking at the review screen when I thought that I”d made a mistake going back to the D2x but remembered how bad the screen is by modern standards- you’ve just to trust that the photos themselves will look a lot better- and they usually are, if not then it’s usually down to me and not the camera šŸ˜€šŸ‘

Love the <D2x.

Still have my D2xs from 15 years ago.

... There is a nice warmth to the browns, particularly the hawk. Are you shooting Raw or jpeg?

Well, my love affair with the old D2x didn't last long, won an auction on eBay for a D3 which should arrive tomorrow, so the D2x will be getting listed on eBay again at the weekend. Would love to keep it but can't justify 3 cameras.....

Bob, for what you'll likely get for the D2X I'd strongly advise you to keep it. I sold my D2X when they were worth £600 used, also for a D3, and always regretted it. So much so I bought another for £250. Unfortunately the D2X sensor failed at only 11000 clicks. I donated it to the repair shop for spares and bought another for just over £200. I still have the D3 but there's nothing to beat that D2X "look" especially for portraits. Out of interest I submitted it as a potential trade in recently and I was offered £145.00. For that money I'll keep it. The battery will also fit your D3 into the bargain. Phil.

Hi, don't imagine that I'm not tempted to keep itĀ  - it's my second Dx2 as I sold first one when I got my D800 and missed it in a lot of ways but between the D2x / 2xlenses / 2xtc that I have for sale, I'll pretty much cover the cost of the D3 - it's the only way I can justify having two bodies, considering I'm no pro.

Having the D800 and D3 I can just about justify

Got a trip out to our local(ish) nature reserve island to try and get some puffin photographs on the 12th of May, so looking forward to putting it through its paces....
