And? which did you decide?

Hello all & would like your thoughts re:the 2 cameras.

I want to "consolidate" my camera gear (reduce GAS) & have looked at these 2 that would allow me to use current lenses:14-140 & 12-60

I like taking photos of local lake wildlife & landscape & anything else that catches my eyes.

They share similar features such as?20mp, IBIS, no anti-alias.

The 9 does have 2 SD slots, 225 focus pts vs 49, is 6K 20 fps vs 9fps.

So I ask myself, for my use, do I really need what the G9 has & it's heavier?

Both have comfortable ergonomic grips for me.

I have the following for sale to support this upgrade:

GX85 (w JBDesigns palm grip)

G7

12-32 (w JJC open close lens cap)(OIS, 3.5-5.6(

35-100-4.0-5.6, OIS

Opinions welcomed-just be kind

Thank you, Judy

Hi which decision did you make?

and are you pleased with your decision?

i have a g80 and it's working fine, i have a second body my old fz200 (same battery's)

And i think when that fz200 goes dead or i see a great offer of the G9 i not sure i am able to bite my tong and restrain from my GAS. (swopping lenses is often a pain in weather or speed, moments lost during the swop.)

i was in the mood of a GX(rangefindertype) as second body (small and nimble to mount the light lenses wile the g80 carries the long heavier ones.)

pro: less space needed for the second body.

con, ergonomics and handling (grip)

the G90/95 is only 20Mpvs 16Mp and some minor differences so my way is only up => G9. (more money "spent"

at the cost of bigger and heavier but much more ergonomics improvement.

It will be a "problem" carrying both in the backback al the time but i can handover the old one (G80) to one of the family members to take images. the lenses are switchable so i carry them anyway. (maybe i see myself for once :-))

luckily they are now still too much to butch and crumble , around 899,- body only new.

So i am safe for now... until.... 499 euro for secondhand?......:-(

I could not justify the expense for something I may only use at 30 percent of its capabilities - even now.

That's a logic I could understand if the price of the camera you were looking at were several thousand dollars.

I am a photographic nobody. Didn't get the E-M1ii at the time because it was much more expensive than the G9, and in my view unjustifiable considering that the main reason for getting a new camera, after all, was to just get more decent pictures of the plants in my yard for identification purposes which is where my phone didn't cut it. Any camera with a macro lens would have done. I got the G9, and before long I was using in-camera focus stacking and 6k captures of bees, and having a lot of fun!

That you may not actively/intensively use all of a camera's features 100% of the time is irrelevant. Not even professional photographers will use all features of their cameras all the time. But you have the option!

Whether you use your G9 just for family snapshots or for serious work, in either case you get to enjoy excellent ergonomics and user-friendliness, not to mention the opportunity to explore and expand your photographic horizon.

Re: G9 vs G90

I bought the G9 early 2020 for £1299.00 including the Leica 12-60 +25mm 1.7 + a battery grip. I saw in the sales yesterday more than one store selling it at the reduced price of £1299.00 inc Leica 12-60 . So much for the sales.

Re: And? which did you decide?

ah the short answer.

G95, happy.

i am curious about if the few months of use change the first impression.

if there is any doubt creeping in so to say.
