f mount to NX mount - Nikon AF to NX ?!?!

Hi, can anyonw tell me a cheap adapter on ebay to use Nikon F mount newer Nikon AF lenses, with Samsung Nx bodies... I'm kind of lost. There are so many...

Will this do?

Thanks

To the best of my knowledge; there is no adapter for the NX that will give you AF from ANY other camera brand. The one you have linked is a 'basic' mechanical adapter only. It will provide no electrical communications (EXIF data) and certainly no AF. If your lens doesn't have an aperture ring then it will only shoot fully wide open.

However don't let this put you off. There are some excellent 'vintage' lens that can be had for sensible money that perform very well. manual focus only mind you.

I have one foot in the Pentax camp and have a number of adapters (Pentax-to-Samsung NX); one for K-mount, one for M42 screw mount and one for K-mount with 'basic' aperture control.

Hope this helps.

Wahid.

Yes, that adapter should be suitable for most Nikon F fit lenses, as long as they have mechanical aperture rings. Pre-AI (probably), AI, AIS, AF and AF-D plus Nikon E Series (manual focus) are OK, but AF-G and later types without aperture rings won't work properly. Different adapters are available for some of these.

True, I have successfully used elderly but longer, wider and some faster Ais, AF and D Nikon lenses, primes and zooms with the proviso you lose autofocus (and VR of course, with the newer lenses). But great that one can use A and S and M exposure on any NX body.

One needs to focus wide open (that fantastic focus peaking) then stop down - or shoot wide open, but that's no biggie. Very good results to be had with long zooms like the Nikon mount Sigma 150-500, where Samsungers don't have those super tele options.

The very good Nikon afG lenses without aperture rings (e.g. 18- kits) and the 16-85 need a simple hack, by pushing a small blob of Presstick into the lens lever mechanism which manually sets the aperture variably at approx, 5.6 or 8 - functional although losing lens speed. An adapter for G lenses to NX is available but too expensive for the minimum use I give them.

(Oh, and get a decent adapter like the K+F one. The ebay one I bought doesn't depress the probe on the camera mount, and you have 'lens detached', the shutter won't fire).

$15 is too expensive?

These adapters allow you to change the aperture on G (aperture ring-less) lenses. It isn't precision control but at least you can adjust.

A v. good deal. Much cheaper since I first checked, pity, I'd order one if they shipped to my country.

Yes.  There are adapters that will at least move the aperture for lenses that don't have aperture rings.  Pretty ingenious when you think about it.  Just wish Samsung has come up with one of the compact models with corner  EVF (a la Sony NEX 6/7.A6X00 cameras) before calling it quits.

You mean like this?

Strongly agreed. What if Samsung had stuck to the rangefinder design of the nx1000, nx300, 500 etc. - retaining all the excellent features of those - PLUS a built-in EVF?

(At least the add-on EVF as has the NX100 I believe (?))

Samsung might still be selling well. There was always that marketable appeal of rangefinder-style cameras for most photographers who already had/have DSLR systems, Samsung might have not needed to go the route of slr lookalikes, the NX10, 20, 30 and NX1. (Not to knock those!)

If I'd make one criticism is that they were lacking in a philosophy and integrated system, probably because they were ahead of their time and leading the way in many areas, so updating bodies and designs without a forward plan.

(and Sony/Fuji wouldn't be kings of the hill, and, and ...

Re: f mount to NX mount - Nikon AF to NX ?!?!

I have a k+f adapter to use my Nikon f lenses on the Samsung nx 3000. My biggest issue I’ve run into with it is the weight of the lens. The lens (sigma 24-70) weighs much more than the camera. That just makes it a bit awkward. Other than that, the images I get from it are super sharp. Much better than the Samsung lenses I have. My other Nikon lenses are just basic lenses and I only tested those twice. I think I paid about $15-20 for mine on Amazon.
