Everyone is welcome to post their FZ300/330 cameras ooc jpgs.

It's hope that we'll find the best settings for the FZ300/330 cam.

In the meantime, hope we'll have a fun time sharing pictures...

FZ300.. Pacific Golden-Plover "test" picture
1

This is just a "test" picture taken today.

Not to expect great results right away.

..

Did some test with using the Hoya HD3 UV lens filter,

and found using the "bare" lens is some better,

so I'm not going to use Hoya lens filter.

..

The settings used for the below picture.

Standard, Contrast (+0), Sharpening (-5), Noise Reduction (-5), Saturation (+0)

Highlight (-2) and Shadow (+2)

iResolution (Low)

Diffraction Compensation (Auto)

Aperture Priority mode

Fixed ISO 200

Metering mode (Multi), [should have tried using Center-weighted & using +0.33EV]

Bare lens

..

Today was overcast cloudy day with drizzling rain.

Good thing the FZ300 (FZ330) is weather resistant.

Jon be real careful using shadow +2 as that’s why to under belly plumage is too dark and you can’t clearly see the birds eye . ( to much contrast in shadows)

Hi Paul,

Thanks very much for commenting!

Yes, that's what I had thought at first,

that the "Shadow +2" equals darker,

but it's actually the very opposite.

The "Shadow +2" lightens the shadows,

while "Shadow -2" darkens the shadows.

And the "Highlight -2" darken the highlights,

while the "Highlight +2" brighten the highlights.

So this is the reason for "Shadow +2" & "Highlight -2",

this is so to lighten the shadows & protects the highlights.

Cheers!

Super beautiful still pictures extracted from 4K videos!

This is something I've seen as a technique for images.

To take 4K videos, and then extract the still pictures.

The most important is the images are impressive.

And fantastic out-of-camera FZ300 pictures too!

Thanks for sharing, happy snapping & videoing.

Hi, thats my today small birds capture practice not cropped or pp, but some of them can be cropped for the better composition, there is enough detail imho.

Also Ramanan Padmanabhan great captures, i have not realised that 4k captures can be as nice!

Super beautiful captures & pictures from your FZ300 camera!

These look impressive, and using f/3.2 & +0.33EV works good.

Thanks for sharing & happy snappings.

Re: COUPLE OF FULL SIZE JPEG AS WELL AS COUPLE OF GRAB SHOT ALSO

Thank you !

Exposure +0.33EV was my attempt at dealing with metering errors caused by snow, but in practice some of this pictures have some highlights or shadows issues, i posted bit pp versions of them in wildlife topic (well, also to be honest, not seeing much diffrence, but it would be important for printing i suppose).

Also i should have used higher shutter speed most likely, since, most of the shots i took today (posted ones are mostly ok i suppose, maybe i could also try using macro focus) were somehow out of focus (those little devils are moving too fast !), but i was afraid that higher iso will kill details.

As for other settings, NR -5, Sharpening 0, Contrast 0 or +1 (forgot i change it sometimes), style: standard also no izoom, ez, inteligent resolution for those. Hope it will be usefull for someone, or someone can correct my mistakes.

Cheers !

Yes, I'm sure those small birds can move very fast,

but I think you did a great job in capturing them.

I think you are doing great!

I've taken a look at your post processed picture.

And the pictures you have posted looks great!

But I have to agree that the difference is slight,

you have done a fantastic out-of-camera jpgs.

That is kind of my goals, to get 90% of the jpgs,

of where I want them to be, and then do some,

slight post processings for the final touches.

Thanks for sharing!

Yes, now I've also got the FZ300.

And my initial thoughts are true,

that both the FZ300 & FZ80 are,

good cameras, and are a good,

combo to have taking pictures.

i'm looking forward to use both,

cameras, to test & experiment,

and share with everyone here.
