Minolta x700 P Program doesn't work

I've noticed that when I set my MC lens to minimum aperture (f22), lock it and set program mode, each time I shot the aperture stays at f22 usually with long exposures, it doesn't automatically change even tho viewfinder says shutter speed should be a lot faster. I don't know where's the problem but it basically makes P mode unusable.

Anyone knows how to fix this ? thanks

I thought you needed tu use an MD lens, not MC .

It is doing what it is supposed to be doing. With the MC you get manual and Aperture priority not P.

See the silver lug outside the mount at 10 o'clock ?

That is the one the MD mount will engage to get the P mode . It isn't there in the MC version. (the MC uses the one at 11 o'clock)

The above two answers are correct .

That's why the MD lenses were released .
