Dear all, have you ever encoutered in a similar issue as we have it on our Canon EOS M3 ?

Below you can see what's driving us crazy (both images were taken 3 sec apart)...any clues what could be the solution to this issue?

Best regards.

It happens often if I understand correctly?

Only on outside  situations with bright sunlight?

At the beginning this wasn't so often (the issue was first noticed at taking selfies).

Now its a nightmare and you have to be really lucky to get a normal picture. The issue appears in various situations, not just outside in  bright sunlight.

We tried with different lenses, settings, firmware updates...and the problem is still there...

When shooting a video, there are no issues at all.

The shutter is sort of like a door that is in front of the sensor. The sensor is what captures the image. The shutter controls when light is allowed to go to the sensor when taking a picture. When the shutter becomes "iffy", meaning it may be failing, sometimes it doesn't close properly and you'll start seeing part of the image looks brighter on one end. The shutter mechanism will have to be repaired at this point.

With video, the shutter doors are open the entire time and that's why there's no issues there.

Sorry, I meant that your cameras  shutter is failing and probably needs replacing.  The repair costs would  likely make it uneconomical to repair so your probably going to have consider a new camera.

Shutter Count?

I agree that it's probably a malfunctioning shutter. Were it mine, I'd want a shutter count for it before I bought another M camera.

That's one reason why I never buy used  cameras. They might look mint cosmetically but if the shutter count is not disclosed  it's a risky buy.

Amen. I'll risk a few hundred for something really interesting, but as the price climbs it becomes a used car/new car decision and I haven't had to buy a used car for 30 years.

I haven't experience with your problem but I think the rest had answered (unfortunately) right.

Can you please tell me how many photos does the camera taken so far?

It's a nice camera for its money (like used). I am also buying used stuff and I agree that buying a new camera is (and it will become even worse) an expensive thing.
