Why are used NX500 being offered on ebay at such high prices?

I have been looking for a pristine NX500 for a long time but used prices seem to be a bit on the high side. Are they in short supply or Is there another reason for it?  There aren't that many 500's being sold on ebay UK.

It's a shame really as the review videos on YouTube seem to unanimously consider this to be an excellent camera, maybe that's why prices are high.

Thank you.

Similarly I've been looking for a "cheap" NX30 for a while, but the prices do seem to be holding up quite well.

Maybe people buying second bodies "just in case" or those with a dead camera and an investment in NX lenses (which are useless on anything else).

I would have though it was unlikely many people were buying into an obsolescent system from scratch.

It depends what you consider high prices?

I remember looking a few weeks ago and seeing some for around £300, which to me seemed quite reasonable.

Of course, these are all "Buy It Now" prices … still listing 'cos no-one has bought them

What you need to do is check on the prices actually paid for cameras, which you'll probably find is quite significantly lower!

Worse than that is having someone that wants to sell you one, plus some lenses, for a "good price", but that refuses to let you try it due to covid... this happened to me the other day...

I didn't believe the guy was cheating me; the guy was really afraid that I contaminate the machine with my finger prints LOL... Oh Man, let me wake up of this paranoia nightmare, called covidparanoia...

Or maybe the guy was afraid that his camera was infected by covid...

A study funded by Bill Gates foundation, discovered hat covid can lower the Megapixels of your camera by  25%. If we are talking about the Uk Variant of covid, it can goes up to 75%, so I guess the guy wasn't crazy after all LOLOLOLOL

Marky are we talking about NX cameras infected by covid? A study funded by Bill Gates foundation, discovered hat covid can lower the Megapixels of your camera by 25%. If we are talking about the Uk Variant of covid, it can goes up to 75% (what are your insights on this?!!?), LOLOLOLOL . So be careful you guys...

Maybe that's why there was a guy here that didn't let me try his NX500, because he was afraid of covid... LOL Pitty, because it was a great deal

It's fine as I resize all my photos to 0.1mp anyway. That way I can fit them all onto a handful of floppy disks.

Oh Marky, you know how nostalgic I am... talking about floppy disc drives, how dare you, my friend? LOL I still remember how by just doing a hole, we could transform a low density floppy disc into a high density one, remember? I remember coming home to play with my Amiga, it used only low density floppy discs, those blue ones 3.5....

But what about tapes? I'm a son of the Spectrum generation. Is Sir Sinclair still alive?

I remember waiting for a game to be loaded, while reading a Your Sinclair magazine, and hearing New Order on the radio... I can still hear that spectrum sound loading images, and games, on my tape recorder... Those were the good days, playing School daze, warm at home, while it was raining outside, Manic Miner... And dreaming about going to Enlgand and meet all my idols, like this one:

PS: Did you see? FC Porto won against Juventus... Yeah!!!!

Haha I remember tapes well, and I had a sinclair spectrum ZX. Thank you.

I think many people have already alluded to the principle reasons. In summary I think;

1 - Not too many may have sold in the first place, so rare on the ground.

2 - Some have died and people can't get them repaired.

3 - Some, like me, are hoarding them. I managed to get 3 when I found out how good they were and before the prices went up. Mine were all less than £300 each.

I think the same can be said of their excellent lenses. I've got multiple copies of; 16mm, 20mm, 30mm and 16-50mm PZ. I'm still in the market for others. I had an excellent copy of 50-150mm S, sold it and now regret it - such is life.

Hi, if you take good care of your stuff, will it last? I mean, do they start malfunctioning with age, if they are stored?

Also, are newer lenses pron to fungus, or only vintage ones? How does a fungus gets into a lens? Can it be with a stored lens?

Thanks

Hi

To date I've only have one camera fail on me, a Nikon CoolPix S3100. A point 'n' shot camera that was no great loss. Non of my 'serious' digital camera gear has ever failed in the last 10 years of shooting.

Having multiple copies means that some don't get used all that much, but they get an occasional airing and testing. All's good so far. The same applies to lenses. My kit is stored in various jiffy bags or small boxes inside larger boxes in a dry and warmish room. Fungus hasn't and shouldn't be an issue there.

Avoid cold and therefore damp storage spaces, eg lofts, garages, cellars, etc.

Some modern lenses are 'weather sealed'. Whilst this is a good thing in itself, most draw in air when being used, particularly zoom lenses that extend and retract. The drawn air, if very humid and trapped inside for a long time might lead to fungus issues.

So I would thoroughly dry your lenses if you intend to store them away for long periods.

Best regards, Wahid.
