What lenses are compatible with the T7i or 800D

I recently bought the 800D also known as T7i and am having a lot of issues finding lenses for it. I've been on Best Buy, Amazon and Ebay but, once I look at compatible cameras-mine isn't listed even though they come up in search. This is not only annoying, but beyond frustrating. It's not like the camera is 15 years old. I had an easier time with my Xti (which unfortunately, was lost).

Eejay78,

The T7i is compatible with the entire range of Canon's EF and EF-S lenses.

If you look in the back of your manual, it should probably list them. There's tons of them.

If you don't have a manual, just do an Internet search for compatible lenses for the Canon T7i.

As already said all EF and EF-S lenses are compatible.  However, EF-M, and RF lenses are not.

Re: What lenses are compatible with the T7i or 800D

I have both the Canon 800D and T7i that I purchased on Ebay. Either of the two kit lenses will work. That would be the Canon 18-55mm STM or 55-250mm STM lenses. I'm also using a Canon 18-135mm USM lens and a Tamron 150-600mm lens. The first three lenses are EF-S mount and the last one mentioned is an EF mount. The Canon Lens forum here can also help you.

As was mentioned, any of the EF or EF-S mount lenses should be fine. Some are better than others. You can read about those on reviews or ask people here about their experiences.

The inexpensive 55-250mm STM lens does well. Since it appears you are new to using the newer Canon DSLR cameras, you might want to start with one of the cheaper kit lens models that I described first. They will be more than adequate.

Here's one I took recently when we had some snow.

Digirame,

Do you have any thoughts on the 55-250 vs. the 18-135?

I have the 55-250, and have been considering buying the 18-135.

Do you have any preference of one for the other?

I use both lenses. I find the Canon 18-135mm USM lens very useful for its 18mm to 135mm range. The Canon 55-250mm lens is better when I want further reach, but don't want to carry a larger telephoto lens around. I leave the lenses on my cameras. Most of the time, I bring with me two cameras with lenses attached. Sometimes I bring three of them with lenses attached in my camera bags. It just depends on the situations.

I agree that the Canon 18-55mm STM and 55-250mm STM lenses would be a great place to start. Both very versatile with good image quality and quite inexpensive.
