Well done!

It won't give you correct colors unless you mount a visible light filter on the lens. Kolari makes one which they call a "hot mirror".

ebay example: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Kolari-Vision-58mm-Kolari-Vision-Color-Correcting-Hot-Mirror-Filter-UV-IR-cut-/290869671163

Do not buy the B+W 486 - it is dichroic and gives a green cast at the sides if used on a wide-angle lens.

The Kolari has a slight blue cast overall - easily fixed in post or with a Custom WB.

ole kekkonen,

Maybe someone with a "dead" SD15 might be able to give you a dust filter.

I think I have an 82mm Kolari around here somewhere.

I bought it for my Quattro when I broke the original and no replacements were to be found.  If you're interested let me know and I'll look for it.

Re: considering b&w

Thanks, you are all very kind.but after seeing the files without the filter I am not sure if I will try color again, the best part is that I can do the jpeg again allover from the x3f file with the same result

Good one. I don't do B&W often because I prefer the false colors without any filters.

But for interest today, I extracted the blue layer with RawDigger and had at it in FastStone Viewer. Came out quite good:

SD15, no filter, 17-50mm @ 23mm. 100 ISO, f/10, 1/200 sec.

Blue because the solar panel had the narrowest lines and there was more "grain".

I wonder how it would come out when lit up? Depends what kind of lamps they are, of course. Shadows on the lion-heads should be striking in B&W ...

How about a lions triptych?

Yes, when there isn't much IR from the scene the colors can be quite pleasant and semi-accurate. Playing with various White Balance selections in SPP can work and trying a sunlit Custom WB can also be interesting ...
