Sony A7iii Metering Issue

If I half press the shutter button in anticipation of taking a shot the meter readout changes by nearly a full stop. Does anyone else have this issue? Or know why this is? Even if it's tripod mounted, so I doubt it has anything to do with the actual readout from the metered scene.

Have you got metering paired with focus point?

You might then be focusing on an area darker or lighter than the mean of the scene, and your metering changing accordingly.

Arbiratry guesses... I have the A7iii myself going on like 3 years I think

What metering pattern are you using. Spot meter could mess things up

Do you have any exposure compensation set?

Was the camera bought new or used

Any physical damage to the camera, dropped, exposure to sand or salt water/spray

When all else fails reset the camera ie look though the manual to go over each page and each menu setting related to exposure

When the apeture is stopped down smaller then max apeture, the apeture will open when the shutter is hapl depressed. This will result in a differt exposure indicated. Watch the diaphram as you press the shutter button half way.
